Somehow everything becomes a 1 or a 0...crazy

So I’m at Barnes and Noble with books strewn around, feeling like I’m back in college, although this time I’m feeling like a computer science major.  Although I’m a self-taught “web development guy”, computer programming is a lot more intimidating.  In “web world” I never have to think about complicated things like memory management, compilers, and how computers work fundamentally. JavaScript and PHP are the only web programming languages I’d had much experience with and I never had to worry about allocating memory for a variable, or initializing it or releasing it when I was done.  This was all new to me, and pretty overwhelming to be honest.

I sat in the book store all day, speed reading these thick books about how computers work, what object oriented programming is, how to write Objective-C for the mac.  In case you were starting to think I’m a total book store freeloader, I’ll point out that I did eventually purchase two books and took them home with me:

I’m actually not normally a fan of these “Dummy” books, but I though hey, I fit the bill in this case, so why not! I actually looked through a LOT of books at B&N, but these are the two I felt capable of digesting at the time.
